Jonathan S Cargofish.com
  • The postal service in London had underground rail tunnels, and I'm sure other cities had similar technology. This utility is no longer in use.  CargoFIsh sounds similar; will it also become obsolete with other freight options?
  • When Autonomous Vehicles are able to pick up groceries, children, and pick up the general items we shopped for using our mobile devices, will the energy consumption and use of our own time value be more efficient with CargoFish?

Jonathan S Other Thoughts:
  • Transparency about delays can be beneficial for a transit agency.  Imagine seeing, "Your train is X minutes late because we are proactively working to make your service better." If the customer does not know this, then he/she assumes the service is simply late and unacceptable.
  • If your customer does not know how to access real-time data, what are other means of getting that data to them?

Jonathan S Issue:  Ensuring the safety of bicyclists (and pedestrians) at major one-way arterial roads in NYC using traffic signals.  How effective are Flashing Arrows at improving driver attention?
Questions to consider in analysis:
-Is a bike lane a travel lane?  Do we treat it like regular traffic?
-Does the Flashing Arrow encourage gap acceptance, even when pedestrians have a green light?

-Pedestrian detection (loop detectors or Fleer cameras.  Heat detection.)
Interesting idea: Detection confirmation in Oregon.  Blue LED shines to tell cyclist he/she has been incorporated into the signal phasing.
